Featured Athlete

Barnes joined the University of North Carolina in 2010 as one of the top-rated basketball players in the recruiting class. In two seasons with the Tar Heels, Barnes was named ACC Rookie of the Year and was chosen for the All-ACC first team. He was drafted by the Golden State Warriors in 2012 and was named to the NBA All-Rookie team his first year. Barnes started all six games of the 2015 NBA Finals, where his shooting, rebounding and defense helped the Warriors win, breaking a 40-year title drought for Golden State. Barnes is averaging a career-high 11.5 points per game this season for the league-leading Warriors.

”Throughout my college and pro career, I have competed with some of the fastest, largest and strongest players in the world, Barnes said. I know how important it is to protect yourself on the court, so I’m excited to be partnering with the leaders in athletic protection to promote protective gear among basketball players.”

DeMarcus Cousins

Center, New Orleans Pelicans

  • athlete bio

The quote that stuck from assistant U of Kentucky coach, Rod Strickland, commenting on big man DeMarcus’ ability to make agile, small-man moves. Boogie has made some big-time moves since his days at LeFlore Magnet High School in Mobile, Alabama. As a LeFlore Rattlesnake, he was voted to both the Parade and McDonalds All-American Teams. Demarcus spent a year at U of Kentucky maturing further and picking up a sweet nickname. Since being drafted 5th overall in the 2010 NBA draft, Mr. Cousins has gone on to one All-Rookie First Team start, three All-Star appearances and two gold medals with the USA National team. Not bad for a guy with a lot of Boogie.
