Shock Doctor, Inc. Wins Big with Sponsored Racers
1/28/2009
Shock Doctor, Inc., a global brand leader in superior sports protection products, today announces an exciting weekend of race results at two of the largest showcases for powersports- the Winter X Games 13 in Aspen, Colo., and the Rolex 24 at Daytona held at Daytona International Speedway.
The Winter X Games continued to prove Tucker Hibbert is untouchable as he snatched his third consecutive gold medal in snocross. After the green flag dropped in the snocross finals, Hibbert never looked back, leading all 25 laps of the race. Shock Doctor provides the unbeaten racer with the protective gear, including The Eject Helmet Removal System and Power Gravity 2 mouthguard, he needs to stay in the lead. Hibbert also is working with Shock Doctor on product development for Shock Doctor’s line of Power Dry™ Gear Bag and Moto Lite compression shorts continuing Shock Doctor’s presence and development of new, groundbreaking and patented technologies for powersport competitors.
Shock Doctor-sponsored Ski-Doo/BOSS Racing team members Robbie Malinoski and Dave Allard both advanced to the finals at Winter X Games 13. It was Malinoski who came away victorious and grabbed the silver medal in the snocross finals. Shock Doctor is the official protective gear and sports bag sponsor of the Ski-Doo/BOSS Racing team.
“On behalf of Shock Doctor, I congratulate our sponsored athletes for their outstanding performances at Winter X Games 13 and Rolex 24 at Daytona,” said Steven Coopersmith, Shock Doctor senior vice president of marketing. “We're very excited about the continued success we've had in the powersports arena with all of our Shock Doctor teams. If our products can help these highly skilled professional athletes continue to excel, just think what they can do for athletes at every level of competition.”
At the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Shock Doctor’s racers also came away victorious. Finishing first overall in the Daytona Prototype racing series was Shock Doctor driver Darren Law of Brumos Racing. In the No. 58 Brumos Racing Porsche Riley, Law was joined by co-drivers David Donohue, Buddy Rice and Antonio Garcia to give Brumos Racing its first Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series victory since 2003. The win was particularly thrilling, as not only was it the closest finish in the 47-year history of the event, but is also believed to be the closest contested finish in the history of a major international 24-hour endurance racing event. In additional victory news, Shock Doctor’s driver Patrick Long along with Jorg Bergmeister, Andy Lally, Justin Marks and RJ Valentine of TRG finished first in the GT class.
In other exciting news from the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Shock Doctor would like to congratulate additional key sponsorship team victories with top finishes by Timo Bernhard of Penske Racing, Childress-Howard Motosports Team, Banner Racing Team, Robin Liddell of Stevenson Motorsports, Richard Westbrook of Farnbacher Loles Racing Team, Leh Keen and Richard Westbrook of Farnbacher Loles Racing GT Team, Jim Lowel of JLowe Racing Team, and Darren Turner of Krohn Racing Team.
“All of these recent wins continue to speak to the ability of our team’s athletic preparedness, skills and knowing how important it is to have the right equipment backing them,” said Coopersmith. “These talented athletes are valued partners to support the Shock Doctor brand in powersports and we look forward to following their success in future competitions.”
