Strains, also sometimes called muscle pulls, are injuries that affect muscles or tendons which are thick bands that attach muscles to bones. Strains occur in response to over stretching or over contraction, or a quick tear, twist, or pull of the muscle. Pain, weakness, and muscle spasms are common symptoms experienced after a strain occurs. (Hamstrings, Calves, Quadriceps and Back Muscles)
